Goodwood Revival 2013
This year's Goodwood Revival was bigger and better than ever; surely there can be no other event anywhere in the world with such an evocative atmosphere, on and off the track. From the moving Jim Clark tribute to the incredible sight of more than two dozen Ford GT40's competing in the Whitsun Trophy race, the sights and sounds of the Revival are intoxicating. In the air, the low cloud base provided a stunning back drop for some amazing display flying, including as always the Spitfire and Mustang. On the ground, the St Mary's Trophy saw Frank Stippler in a 1965 Alfa Romeo 1600 GTA doing close quarters battle with two 7 litre Ford Galaxies, one of them driven by Tom Kristensen. In the Bonhams auction tent, Rod Stewart's old Lamborghini Miura attracted a winning bid of close to £1m and the ex-Scuderia Ferrari 1935 Alfa Romeo 8C (pictured here) went for more than £5m. All in all, a truly wonderful weekend and we're already looking forward to next year's Revival.
