2004 Porsche Carrera GT
- Car No 92 of only 1,270 built
- 1,727 miles from new
- Prepared to Concours condition by Porsche GB
- Sought-after colour combination
This stunning supercar exists partially due to rule changes in both F1 and Le Mans, as the V10 engine unit Porsche developed in secret for both of these was used in a Paris 2000 prototype. The prototype received better than expected interest and the Carrera GT road car was born. With an exclusive 1,500 run planned into production to last 2 years, the cars became rarer when the US airbag rules changed and Porsche stopped the final units at 1,270 as costs to re-tool to meet these were prohibitive.
Designed for the road and capable of 200mph+, Walter Röhrl assisted development on the Nürburgring circuit. Its race roots were maintained with every possible weight saving actioned, without affecting driver aids such as sat nav and hands free mobile connectivity. The Carrera GT's suspension is pure competition car, featuring unequal-length control arms all round with horizontally mounted gas shock absorbers operated via pushrods and rockers. Its brakes too are racetrack developed, consisting of six-piston aluminium calipers gripping 15" diameter ceramic composite discs that are more heat resistant and 50% lighter than cast-iron equivalents. More weight was saved from the wheels, which are made of forged magnesium (19" front, 20" rear) while ABS was standard equipment, as was power assistance for the steering.
We are delighted to offer car no 92 with such low mileage presented in colour combination of Solid Black with Natural Dark Grey leather interior. With the two section roof stored in the front, the travel luggage is a clever design with a suit carrier stowed behind the passenger seat and a clip in bag beneath the manual gear controls. Originally delivered to an Official Porsche Centre in New York, '92' was first registered in the USA on 1st January 2004 and sold to a collector. In May 2008, the Carrera was purchased by a well-known UK based collector and imported into the UK on 1st September 2012. Meticulously converted to meet UK requirements, the car has been in the care of Porsche Central Operations, the only Porsche-approved 918 Spyder and Carrera GT specialist in this country, since 2015.
This car is a unique statement in Porsche history, allowing Porsche to run special road car design away from the legendary flat six, stepping through to today, with their 918 Hybrid technology. A collectors car, built to be driven and admired. With values increasing it makes a fabulous investment.
